Great news for 7D owners, Magic Lantern has finally released it’s hack! Apparently the hack took so long because unlike the 5D Mark II and 650D, the 7D has two image processors instead of just one.
The Magic Lantern firmware is free and includes a bunch of cool new features for your Canon 7D including: focus peaking, zebra stripes, magic zoom, spotmeter, liveview customization, image tweaks, and many more.
The firmware has had no reported problems so far and should work just fine on your 7D, but use at your own risk. It is still a beta version. Magic Lantern did shoot many, many gigs of footage and photos on four different 7D’s and did not experience any problems.
